Keeping A Healthy Heart

This week we are learning about fitness and how to have a healthy heart.  My kids are really into being outside and active!  We have talked about our heart and how to keep it healthy by what we eat and getting exercise.  Below we made a heart model.  We try to make our activities hands on and really want them to witness our lesson in action,

Being physically active  is vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life.   For kids exercise means playing and being physically active. Kids exercise when they have gym class at school, during recess, at dance class or soccer practice, while riding bikes, or when playing tag.  Being active not only is healthy for their body it is also healthy for their mind.  They focus better after they are active!!

We enjoyed jumping around pretending to be a frog, imagining how long a frog would jump.

Prompts for this activity were:

What do you notice about the photo?

What happens when you move the tray quickly?

What colors do you want to mix?

My parents love how these turned out they even want to frame them!

We would spin then try each activity,  these games that we are provided are always fun and burn energy.  We have been inside alot because of rain and the kids have not minded.

They were balancing on their tummies!
