Your backyard is full of all kinds of life, if you know where to look. Our kids can find so many treasurers outside by just looking around. We take adventures outside in the back, to the park or just a walk around the block. You would be amazed at the things you can find. Fun thing to do is also take a magnifying glass with you!
What colors do you see on the beetle?
What one is your favorite?
What shape is a beetle?
And oddly enough they wanted to know if I had ever eaten one?
HOW MANY ARE IN THE WATER?
We read a math sensory card and then invited the children to put animals (link strips) into the water according to the story on the card.
We would ask can you find water near your home?
Do animals live in the water?
I love these activities because it makes concrete the concepts we are teaching to them.
FAVORITE ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK
We laughed the entire time we were drawing on the puppet only with our feet. We also played FOLLOW THE FEATHER – we placed a feather on different parts of our body and tried to balance it while doing different things.
We took our cube to the park, I put the different things listed on a larger piece of construction paper. We would take turns throwing the cube and doing what it said.
Randy focused on placing the pom poms on the tree and then saying the letter underneath.
ELEPHANT COLOR MATCHING GAME
SMALL GROUP LITERACY
Would you rather have a beetle on you head or a hat on your head? These were some of the questions. I could say I was surprised by some of the answers and their reasoning.
