I Think I’m an abstract teacher, I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. I know that it helps me think on a whim. I’m not so stuck to the rules of a project that we can’t tweak them a little bit, I think with kids that is important. I also like the fact they can think out of the box and there is no wrong way to do any of the projects!! So way to go Mother Goose awesome job! Thank you for giving me the tools to succeed! And making it exciting for the kids! #mgtblogger
FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND BRINGING THE OCEAN TO THE KIDS! FAVORITE STEM ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK!
I could not find clean sand so I got creative, this will probably be a center that we keep around for a long time, so much fun! We used kinetic sand, we could not write numbers in it so we pretended we were at the beach. They love the texture and color and they absolutely loved the shells that were sent.
SALT WATER PAINTING WAS GREAT, I THINK I MIGHT BE ENJOYING THIS MONTH ALMOST MORE THAN THE KIDS. I FOUND MYSELF TRYING IT OUT WITH THEM.
They were so excited to figure out after a few tries how to push the top of the dropper and how it would fill up. They spent a while just doing that. They also started making sound effects!!
YOU WILL LOVE HIS REACTION!

SALT WATER PAINTING A HUGE SUCCESS!
The kids love the journals they make them feel big like they are in big school like some of their siblings. Their favorite part is decorating the front.
When we sit down to go through the journal it takes us a few days. Its a great way to work on literacy at a young age and not make it stressful. I know that anytime when kids are in school if they thought they were reading for fun it makes it easier for them. But when the school tests the kids or tests their speed it almost makes them stumble over the words. And half the time not even be able to comprehend what they are reading. What I do with my little ones is read through the book leaving obvious words out and they fill in, it helps them start to recognize words without even thinking about it. And makes them feel successful!
I love the way that they are all given the same materials and how different they all look. Interesting to think how our minds work and what a kid can imagine at a young age when given the right type of environment and products to learn.
We love to use bingo daubers when we do these! They love the colors and I love how easy they are for all ages to use.
Oysters – how amazing that because of friction (sand or dirt) they make a pearl to protect the oyster!! We dipped the markers in the water to use as a water-color paint. Sometimes we do our projects in the backyard, playroom, but they love doing them at the park.
We walked around clicking to each other when we learned that’s how the Dolphin communicated. The kids are really loving what we are learning about the ocean.
Super simple ways to learn, my age ranges that I watch/teach are from 2-12. Even after school some of my older ones are wanting to do the activities! Gotta love that.
Whether they are just writing their name in the decorated name tags or putting together a dolphin craft.
